2 Trees

Just want to share this video with you all because it's very very good! Rather weird and a bit sad but the song is one of my favourites.
It's called 2 Trees and it's by a British band called Foals who are one the most amazing live bands you could see.
Enjoy.

Snow = A Nightmare

You ready? Because this is a proper story.

Contrary to how I was feeling earlier in the week, I now have decided that I dislike the snow very much. This comes after the day I had yesterday which felt like a nightmare to say the least.

It started when I foolishly disregarded the advice given by members of my family and set off to work in my car, when I quite easily could have walked. I dug my car out of a huge heap of snow and set off. The drama started when I got stuck down a road near work and had to try and reverse out of the way for an oncoming van, slipped and skidded nearly hitting parked cars before getting stuck trying to park. I had to just bail out and leave the car parked rather shoddily. Felt rather shaken up once I arrived at work and decided that come the evening I would leave the car where it was if I couldn't get it out.

Went to unlock my car once I had finished work and did so before the keys slipped from my gloved hands......into the drain! I actually let out a scream of terror as I realised where they'd gone. I had to go home feeling distraught at the fact my car was left unlocked. However my Dad and Brother decided to go on an expedition armed with tools to try and fish my keys out...I felt optimistic but alas a phone call confirmed the keys were gone. (Please note I don't  have a spare!) So, feeling awfully glum about the whole situation I sat and thought about what I could do. Then my Brother appeared with a really long, thin piece of wood on which we attached an old wire coat hanger and so my boyfriend Dale and I set out in the snow once again to try and fish the keys from the drain.

As we were poking around in the drain several people passed offering their help, one lady suggested opening the drain, but to do that we need to move my car...so cue two men who offered to help push my car backwards with Dale to free the drain up. Their shere brute strength meant my car was sent backwards and we could open the drain. So began about an hour or so of fishing out leaves, a watch, a screwdriver and various other bits and bobs. Things were looking bad and so Dale rang a friend of his who lived nearby to aks if they had a magnet we could use and he did! But whilst we were waiting for the said friend with the magnet, the unthinkable happened....Dale fished out THE KEYS! I was in shock and just stared at them whilst Dale shouted 'well get them then!!' I carefully took the keys off the hook and danced around in the snow waving them in the air like a loony! Dale's friend arrived, a bit miffed that he couldn't use his strange
unfolding magnet thingy but he helped Dale give me a push start in the snow.

The moral of this story girls and boys is: Always Listen To Your Mother.

The. End.

Need Christmas gift ideas?

This year I have started my Christmas shopping early, which I have to say feels rather good! I do try to be organised, and to help me find the perfect gifts for my nearest and dearest I am using Etsy and so far so good! Have found lots of lovely handmade and unique gifts that I just couldn't get anywhere else.

So I think that everyone should give Etsy a try for Christmas and see what beautiful and creative gift ideas they can find. To get you in the spirit here's a link to a lovely Red themed treasury with lots of great ideas for presents:

Silviasheart.

A fellow Etsian has had everything she owns destroyed in a fire recently, thankfully she and her family have escaped with their lives, but at this hard time she will need all the money she can get to hopefully replace things she has lost. I feel like I should help, and thought promoting her lovely shop would be the first place to start.

So if you're looking for a gift for a special person this Christmas, please check her Etsy shop first as she makes the most beautiful jewellery out of gemstones and crystals, truly exquisite and unique pieces.

HALLOWEEN!!!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time, work and real life have got in the way!

Am excited for Halloween this coming weekend though and have been making my costume, hope to post a pic of the finished product when it's done.

Trick or Treat

So what are you doing for Halloween this year?

A missed photo opportunity.

I was walking to work yesterday through the park, the sun was shining, creating those lovely long shadows you start to get at this time of year, everything was glowing and there on the grass amongst the browning leaves was the cutest squirrel I've seen sat with a massive conker in its mouth!

It sat there for ages whilst I scrambled around in my bag in the hope of finding my camera as the scene was just too lovely to not have a photo of.

Sadly, I hadn't brought it out with me...moral of the story...always remember my camera even if I am just on my way to work!

Burlesque and Mary Poppins.

I went to a Burlesque show to celebrate my friends birthday last night. Never been to one before but I have to say I enjoyed it! It was a tad amateur (I expected more glam) but it was entertaining all the same. One of the best skits was by a girl dressed as Mary Poppins....yep a sexy Mary Poppins! Don't think I will be able to watch that film again...

A Spoonful of Sugar anyone?

Fascinator headband how-to!

Right, so as promised I'm sharing a pic or two of the fascinator headband I made to wear for my cousins wedding. (The wedding itself was a wonderful occasion by the way - will eventually put some pics up of it) Thought I would also share how I made it, it is really very simple:

Step 1: Take a plain headband, some feathers, ribbon (about half a metre should do it) and something shiny and bling (like a brooch) oh and you'll need scissors and some craft glue too.
Step 2: Dab a tiny bit of glue on one side of the headband, just under a quarter of the way up and apply the feathers.

Step 3: Dab a bit of glue to one end of the ribbon.

Step 4: Holding the feathers  to the headband take the ribbon and start to securely and tightly wrap it around the feathers. Once wrapped all the way to the bottom of the headband (ensuring all the feather stems have been covered) add a tiny bit of glue and stick down the end of the ribbon. (you may need to hold it for a few minutes to be sure it has stuck)

Step 5: Stick your piece of bling or embellishment to the headband just where the feathers poke out of the ribbon, or if using a brooch like I did just pierce it through the ribbon!

And there you have it, one beautiful and handmade fascinator! Very cheap too :)

Toasting the Queen?

I went to my Great Auntie and Uncles 60th Wedding Anniversary 'do last night, was a lovely event and it was so nice to see members of my family that I haven't seen in a while but one thing has left me puzzled.
After the meal and toast to the happy couple we toasted the Queen...I didn't have a glass of bubbly or anything else for that matter apart from a cup filled with tea! So I toasted Her Majesty with a lovely cuppa...I think she would have liked that.
Still, am confused as to why we toasted her anyway, it wasn't her anniversary!

Etsy

Still having trouble trying to find out how to link my Etsy shop to this blog!
Help!
I have managed to find a 'widget' from the brilliant website Craftcult so you can take a peek at what I have for sale using that...find it down the left hand side of the page. Still it would be nice to be able to have clearer  imagery of my products...

National Cupcake Week

Apparently it's National Cupcake week this week...hooray!! perfect excuse to be naughty and eat way too many yummy buns!

Getting crafty

So I'm going to my cousins wedding on Saturday and today decided that instead of paying the earth for a fascinator I would attempt to make one myself!

Popped to Boyes and bought some feathers and ribbon and am going to jazz up an old headband I had lying around...will post the end result!!
