Burlesque and Mary Poppins.

I went to a Burlesque show to celebrate my friends birthday last night. Never been to one before but I have to say I enjoyed it! It was a tad amateur (I expected more glam) but it was entertaining all the same. One of the best skits was by a girl dressed as Mary Poppins....yep a sexy Mary Poppins! Don't think I will be able to watch that film again...

A Spoonful of Sugar anyone?

Fascinator headband how-to!

Right, so as promised I'm sharing a pic or two of the fascinator headband I made to wear for my cousins wedding. (The wedding itself was a wonderful occasion by the way - will eventually put some pics up of it) Thought I would also share how I made it, it is really very simple:

Step 1: Take a plain headband, some feathers, ribbon (about half a metre should do it) and something shiny and bling (like a brooch) oh and you'll need scissors and some craft glue too.
Step 2: Dab a tiny bit of glue on one side of the headband, just under a quarter of the way up and apply the feathers.

Step 3: Dab a bit of glue to one end of the ribbon.

Step 4: Holding the feathers  to the headband take the ribbon and start to securely and tightly wrap it around the feathers. Once wrapped all the way to the bottom of the headband (ensuring all the feather stems have been covered) add a tiny bit of glue and stick down the end of the ribbon. (you may need to hold it for a few minutes to be sure it has stuck)

Step 5: Stick your piece of bling or embellishment to the headband just where the feathers poke out of the ribbon, or if using a brooch like I did just pierce it through the ribbon!

And there you have it, one beautiful and handmade fascinator! Very cheap too :)

Toasting the Queen?

I went to my Great Auntie and Uncles 60th Wedding Anniversary 'do last night, was a lovely event and it was so nice to see members of my family that I haven't seen in a while but one thing has left me puzzled.
After the meal and toast to the happy couple we toasted the Queen...I didn't have a glass of bubbly or anything else for that matter apart from a cup filled with tea! So I toasted Her Majesty with a lovely cuppa...I think she would have liked that.
Still, am confused as to why we toasted her anyway, it wasn't her anniversary!

Etsy

Still having trouble trying to find out how to link my Etsy shop to this blog!
Help!
I have managed to find a 'widget' from the brilliant website Craftcult so you can take a peek at what I have for sale using that...find it down the left hand side of the page. Still it would be nice to be able to have clearer  imagery of my products...

National Cupcake Week

Apparently it's National Cupcake week this week...hooray!! perfect excuse to be naughty and eat way too many yummy buns!

Getting crafty

So I'm going to my cousins wedding on Saturday and today decided that instead of paying the earth for a fascinator I would attempt to make one myself!

Popped to Boyes and bought some feathers and ribbon and am going to jazz up an old headband I had lying around...will post the end result!!
